Basic Requirements:

  • Residing in Korea
  • Have an F-type working VISA or Korean citizenship
  • Be able to be registered as a teacher with the ministry of education

Conditions:

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30AM to 4:30PM or 8AM to 5PM
  • Vacation: all national holidays, 4 personal/sick days per year, 2 weeks in winter, 1 week in spring, 4 weeks in summer
  • Free cafeteria lunch
  • Four insurances and severance payment
  • Starting at 3.0 million KRW per month (negotiable based primarily on education and years of experience; there is a new-hire payscale in place). School provided housing or housing allowance of 500,000 KRW for foreign nationals.
  • Teaching Age: Middle and High School
  • Breaks: teach a maximum of 5 out of 8 classes possible in the schedule (not including after-school clubs)
  • Class Size: Approximately 5 – 16 students per class
  • Teacher Training: Initial Teacher Training and 2 Professional Development Days per year
  • Teaching Staff: 30+ Teachers

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver dynamic Social Studies lessons for Grades 6–12, aligned with school-wide learning objectives and standards (e.g., AERO, IBDP, or similar frameworks)
  • Teach a variety of courses that may include History, Geography, Civics, Global Studies, Economics, or World Cultures
  • Design and assess learning experiences that integrate critical thinking, research skills, and global perspectives
  • Foster a classroom environment that is inclusive, student-centered, and culturally responsive
  • Utilize technology to enhance learning and student engagement, including Google Workspace for Education
  • Provide timely, meaningful feedback and maintain accurate records of student progress
  • Collaborate with colleagues in interdisciplinary planning, professional development, and school events
  • Support student learning through advisory, clubs, field trips, or co-curricular activities
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues in a professional manner
  • Uphold the school’s mission, values, and code of conduct

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, History, Political Science, Geography, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred)
  • Valid teaching certification/license in Social Studies or Secondary Education (preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years teaching experience, preferably in an international or multicultural context
  • Demonstrated ability to teach across multiple grade levels and content areas within the humanities
  • Experience with student-centered, inquiry-based, and project-based learning approaches
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proficiency with educational technology and digital tools (e.g., Google Workspace, online learning platforms)
